Why We Like It
This is a really creative way to recycle walnut shells to create an naturalistic puzzle feeder for birds and other small animals. You could scale this up and use coconut shells for larger animals, too.
Materials
Walnut shells, in half
Twine or yarn
Clip or carabiner
Food to put in the shells
Drill with small drill bit
How to Make It
Cut a piece of string about 2 ft long
Tie a knot at one end of the string
Drill holes in the middle of each walnut shell half
String the walnut shells onto the piece of string.
Once all of the shells have been threaded onto the string, tie the end of the string to the carabiner or clip.
Fill each shell with a bit of food. You could include nuts, seeds, veggies, leaves, or fruits.
