Why We Like It

This is great sensory enrichment for water-dwelling animals. Sea turtles, otters, and other animals can rub their bodies against the brushes to scratch and clean themselves.

Materials

  • 4-5 deck brushes

  • 4 pieces of 3" or 4" PVC pipe (they can all be the same length or two can be one length and two can be another length)

  • PVC elbows to fit the PVC pipes

  • Heavy-duty zip ties

  • PVC glue

How to Make It

  1. Construct a square or rectangle out of the PVC pipes and PVC elbows. Use PVC glue to secure the elbows onto each piece of PVC

  2. Zip-tie each deck brush to each side of the rectangle. Use multiple zipties per deck brush.

  3. Let the PVC glue dry and thoroughly clean the enrichment before use
