Why We Like It
This is a great sensory enrichment for animals who naturally experience a lot of different textures in the wild (think snakes and other reptiles). You can make this for other small animals, too! Just be mindful of the potential ingestion risks when choosing your textured materials.
Materials
Particle board (smooth) of your desired size
Various pieces of texture--astroturf, towels, carpet, sponges, tile, vinyl, etc
Staple gun
Gorilla Glue
How to Make It
Attach your textured peices to the particle board using a staple gun (for softer materials) or Gorilla glue (for tile and vinyl)
Hammer out any staples to ensure they're not protruding
Place in enclosure
