Why We Like It
Horses and other hoofed mammals explore with their mouths--in the wild they encounter all sorts of roughage. This gives animals the opportunity to explore novel textures from the comfort of their enclosure or stall.
Materials
Log or smoothed piece of wood
Large hole saw, router, or hand saw for cutting big holes
Various textures (sponges, brushes, etc)--make sure they're not a danger to your animal
Eye bolts with nuts and washers
Carabiners for hanging
How to Make It
Smooth the wood you'll be using
Use a saw to cut a series of holes in the wood
Secure various textured materials to the holes (try zip ties, chains, etc)
Add eye bolts to either side of the piece of wood
Secure to the enclosure or stall using carabiners
